I'm Craig Mercer. I've been plumbing for 20years, the last stretch of it on my own out of Penrith. Before that I worked for a couple of the bigger outfits around Western Sydney, which is where I learned how I didn't want to do it.

When you ring this number you get me. Not a call centre, not a dispatcher, not a different bloke every time. I'll tell you on the phone roughly what I think is going on and what it's likely to cost, and if I can't get to you today I'll say so rather than leaving you waiting.

I quote a fixed price before I start. If I open something up and it turns out to be worse than it looked, I stop and talk to you before doing anything else. That's it — there's no clever system behind it, it's just how I'd want to be treated.
